Management
Gilbert Décarie
President
Gilbert Décarie has 25 years experience in the aluminum industry. When he became Qualum president and owner in December 1998, Gilbert Décarie surrounded himself with an experienced team-with whom he intends to enhance the success of his firm. His motto, "I am quality, I produce quality" relates directly to the firm's name: Qualum = Quality and Aluminum.
Gilbert Décarie handles overall management of Qualum, and is also involved in sales, marketing.
Jean-Hugues Michaud
General Manager
Graduate from École Polytechnique in metallurgical engineering, Jean-Hugues Michaud has 20 years experience in the manufacturing industry. Subsequently, after having worked at Sidbec-Dosco from 1982 through 1989, Jean-Hugues became Chief Metallurgist at Alcan Lapointe Plant in Jonquière and there, coordinated the Total Quality Program. By 1992, the plant was certified ISO-9002. In 1994, he was promoted to Principal Coordinator and responsable for all operations.
His continuous effort and accomplishements led the plant to the Quality Trophy of "Canada Awards for Excellence" in 1995. The following year Jean-Hugues was appointed Plant Director for Alumiform Inc., a firm specialized in aluminium and pvc extrusions. He developped the production and quality management systems. He also supervised customer service and employee training.
In February of 2002 Jean-Hugues joined the Qualum group as General Manager. His experience in managing operations and expertise in quality systems in the aluminium industry is supporting the company's mission.
Plant
Qualum's equipment, amongst the most modern and sophisticated in Canada, allows us to deliver the highest quality product possible. Our plant has the latest, most sophisticated tools for automated glass cutting and computer-controlled saws. Qualum's technology, expertly handled by our specialized team, is ready and able to meet our client's specific needs. It also allows us to maintain and even exceed quality criteria established for aluminum windows.
Qualum's enviable status in the aluminum window sector is due to its winning team. Qualum's employees have, on average, 18 years of experience and are masters of their trade. They give their best for they have their firm's continued growth and success at heart.
Our plant, which is located in Boucherville, Québec, on the outskirts of Montréal, has been manufacturing quality aluminum windows for 46 years. The more than 1 million windows already installed give comfort and peace of mind to their owners.
Qualum's expertise allowed us to design a multifunctional plant that's adaptable to the clients' needs. Our plant's flexibility allows us to manufacture aluminum windows of any size. Qualum's 5300 square-meters plant houses a special order department for manufacturing arched and projected windows. Window products can be designed according to your own specifications and your region's weather characteristics.
